Fire Alarm

Sunday was an interesting day at Church...We have 1 pm church and we had been there all of 10 mins when the lights flickered and then the fire alarm went off in the middle of opening announcements.  Nobody moved, I think partly because they didn't want to give up their cushy bench seat. ha ha.  A  few minutes later the Bishop asked us all to evacuate, and that the Fire Department would be there soon to turn off the alarm.  30 mins later the Fire Men still couldn't get the alarm to turn off, Luckily it was a nice day outside.  Finally after 45 mins the Bishop told us that they couldn't get it to turn off and that we would move to the other building around the corner.  When we got to the other building I was surprised at how it looked like everyone showed up.  Such a testament at how dedicated the members of the church are.  We just had sacrament meeting and then we were dismissed.  I definitely appreciate living a place where its easy to just move to another church building ONLY 2 mins away!

I know..2 post in 1 week! :)

CaLi

In the beginning of January Kurt and I went to CA to visit my Dad and Family. We didnt get to see them during Christmas and we got a smoking deal on airline tickets, so we decided, why not go and enjoy the warm weather. On our flight from SLC to SD Thurl Bailey was on our flight, I had no idea who he was, but Kurt sure did. I kept staring at him, not b/c I'm a JAZZ fan, but because he is soooo tall! :)

We arrived Thursday afternoon and my dad took us to lunch at the Corvett Diner and then shopping at Trader Joe's!  Oh I love that store, wish we had one in UT!

Friday we drove out to a place called Salvation Mt. ( copied this from the website)

Salvation Mountain is Leonard's tribute to God and his gift to the world with its simple yet powerful message: "God Is Love." Leonard's passion has lovingly created this brilliant "outsider art " masterpiece resplendent with not only biblical and religious scripture such as the Lord's Prayer, John 3:16, and the Sinner's Prayer, but also including flowers, trees, waterfalls, suns, bluebirds, and many other fascinating and colorful objects. Salvation Mountain must be seen to be fully appreciated as those who have made the journey will attest. Its 50 foot height and 150 foot breadth is made totally of local adobe clay and donated paint and is truly unique in the United States and probably the world.

Basically, this hippie guy Leonard Knight painted/built a huge art Mountain.  It's amazing that he built it out of Paint, Hay, Trees, and Mud.

That night Maria made my birthday dinner for me, Oh it was so yummy!  Little Ribbies and Fried Rice, Im so mad that I didnt take a picture of them.

Saturday we Headed back to SD.... Kurt and I got to do a session in the San Diego Temple! I had wanted to do that since we got married, it was so Beautiful! It was especially nice to be there with Kurt, it had been a long time since we had had the opportunity to go together. That night we had a yummy Fish Dinner with the Family at Jimmy's Famous Tavern. I have no idea who Jimmy is, but the salmon was bomb!

Sunday we relaxed, went for a Long walk on the Beach and then went to the Birch Aquarium at UCSD.  The view from outside the Aquarium was magnificent! I love me an Ocean view!

Monday we flew back to Utah, it was a fast and sunny visit.  But just what we needed after a busy holiday season.

Oh and I miss these cute faces!
