So my first month in Indianapolis was pretty low key: watching Friends, Running around the pond behind our apartment, Monday girls night watching the Bachlorette with the other wives, cooking and hanging out with KURT! It was some much needed relaxation.
The month of July has been more exciting..My mom and Richard came to visit the 3rd-11th. The morning of the 4th my mom I and some other wives went to a small town Parade. It was awesome, I haven't been to a Parade in years. It helped remind me what the 4th was all about and those who have served our country.
That night we BBQ'd, waited for Kurt to get home from work and then lit off some fireworks.

A few days later Richard wanted to do some genealogy hunting in Clay County, Indiana, so my mom , Richard and I hopped in the car for the short car ride there...well sorta. There was a small battle of the GPS vs. Map but ounce that battle was over I fell asleep and we were there in no time. We walked around a cemetery and got to know some Harden's. My mom and I dropped Richard off at a library and we took a short road trip to Terre Haute, went to T.J Max and then took a very long detour(the freeway entrance was closed) back to get Richard. We then went to dinner with one of Richards distant cousins and her husband. They were very nice and shared some family secrets with us. All in all it was a fun trip, learned about the Hardens and got car sick.
Last weekend we decided to do a last minute trip to Nauvoo, IL because my brother Adam and his family just happened to be there and it is only a 5 hourish drive for us. I have been and so have my mom and Richard but it has been years, and Kurt has never been. Kurt worked till 5 and then we started the drive, we drove through lots of corn fields and small towns. I felt like I was in a small town American Movie, I forget that people really live like that. We got to Nauvoo just in time to see the end of the Nauvoo Pageant, afterwards we found Adam and Heather and there cute kids. We visited a bit with them and then went to our separate hotels. We were filling hungry and the only thing open at 10:30 was a little local pizza place called Ziggies. It was sooo GOOD! and there Ziggie sticks are to die for, if you are ever in Nauvoo you need to go. It's on Mulholland St.
The next morning we started early so we could get a full day of site seeing in. We started at the Temple so we were fresh and clean for family pictures. Then we went do historic, old Nauvoo and walked around, checked out town hall, the bakery, the gun shop, the school house, the brick yard, Joseph Smith's houses, and the red brick store. It was very hot and humid, but it was worth it to see all these things and to see the kids so excited to learn about old Nauvoo.
We had lunch and then headed to Carthage Jail and went through the tour, such a touching place. Our last stop for the day was Parley St., the Trail of Hope back in Navuoo. This is where the pioneers lined up 3 wagons wide waiting to cross the Mississippi. Along Parley St. they have plaques up of peoples stories, this was by far my favorite. They had such faith, being forced to leave most of their belongings behind and start all over again!
The next morning we got up early and started the drive back to Indianapolis. We drove straight to the airport to drop off my parents. It was a short trip but well worth it! Getting to see Adam, Heather and their kids was such a treat, we haven't seen then since our wedding! I wish we lived closer to more of my family, we just don't get to see them enough. Thanks mom and Richard for coming to visit!
The Temple is so beautiful, I'm not that great of a picture taker but these are a few of my favorites.
