My mom and Richard came up from Las Vegas for a few days. My Awesome SIL Baylee hosted Thanksgiving Dinner and it was delish!
The Saturday after Thanksgiving my dad and Maria were driving back from their place in Mexico and got in to a bad car accident. Their truck rolled 2 1/2 times and my dad was knocked unconscious, his seat belt did not lock. Maria was able to crawl out and get to my dad and wake him up, but he was in a lot of neck pain. A nice Mexican Family stopped to help them and called an ambulance. They were in the middle of nowhere so it took an hour to get there and it was a volunteer ambulance so it only had soapy water, gauze and a neck brace. They finally made it to a hospital, ran some tests and cleared him to be transported to San Diego. He spent 3 days in the ICU due to two cracked vertebrae. Thankfully, Maria was unharmed in the crash! I can't even explain how scary it was to get this news... I wanted to fly down to San Diego as fast as I could!
During the accident our two Dogs were lost in the Mexican Desert. A rancher found Bailey about a week after but Lucy wasn't found until 10 weeks after the accident by the same rancher. When my dad and Maria picked her up she had a badly hurt foot , so they took her to the vet. Her blood counts were off so they did
some X-rays and found a huge ulcer. When the vet cut her open he found to a lot of infection and her body started to shut down. The vet closed her up and kept her alive till my dad and maria could say good bye. Our family was heart broken, but so thankful that we got to say goodbye in our own way! LUCY we'll miss you!

My dad is recovering now, but still has to wear his neck brace until the end of April. My parents are so amazing and have embraced retirement life! I feel so Grateful, blessed and LOVE my family and my beliefs!
